So I read a lot. Pretty much all I do in my free time is read and watch sports. So when I say this is the best thing I've read fiction/nonfiction/fanfiction in nearly a year, that carries a bit of weight.

bendingsignpost is a Sherlock fic, John centric, plotty, intricate and completely mind-bending. John gets shot in Afghanistan and finds that his life has splintered into four different realities. Characters are sharp. Writing is fantastic. Pacing is quick. Resolution is more than satisfying. I've just finished my second go around with it and it's just as good as the first.
No series two spoilers, so you don't have an excuse not to go read
